Backyard Baseball!

Here in St. Louis baseball is BIG! We love baseball in a unique way that you typically don't see anywhere else. Tomorrow is Opening Day, a BIG day, practically a holiday around here. With baseball on the brain, I recall a {backyard baseball} shindig we threw a while back for the most adorable 3 year old boy.

Under bright sunshine and partly cloudy skies with temperatures pushing 82 degrees, players, coaches, managers and fans made their way to Huber Stadium. With every ticket spoken for, a full-house greeted the MVP! The first 20 fans 13 and under received a 2006 World Series cup filled with lots of goodies, including a Fredbird coloring page, Cracker Jacks, Baseball Whistle and Crazy Straw. Pre-Game Ceremonies began promptly at 2:10 pm. A historical ceremonial first pitch featuring the Cardinals very own Fredbird tossing to the MVP, made this day unlike any other. The seventh-inning stretch called for a trip to the concession stand where offerings of traditional ballpark fare hit the spot. At the top of the 9th, the skipper made his call to the bullpen. After a rocky start and taking the game into extra innings, the birthday boy made it through the day.  The Gold Glover recapped his outing, "it was a game winning hit!"

Now it's time to dig out the Cardinals gear and pack Cracker Jacks in the lunch boxes.  Go BIRDS!!
